1999 BRIDGE TO THE MILLENNIUM

     1999 JOINT MEETING

of the Northern California & Nevada Medical Library Group

and the Medical Library Group of Southern California & Arizona

Fairmont Hotel, San Jose California February 5-7, 1999

The Joint Meeting Planning Committee invites you to attend "1999 - Bridge to the Millennium," the 1999 NCNMLG/MLGSCA Joint Meeting in San Jose, California. Please mark your calendars for February 5-7, at the Fairmont Hotel in the heart of downtown San Jose.

Highlights of the meeting include:

Lois Ann Colaianni, retiring Assistant Director of NLM, on her years at NLM, the evolution of NLM services and trends to watch.

  • "Lipstick Librarian!," Linda Absher, Internet librarian for Sequent, on developing and living with her funny, satiric website (http://www.teleport.com/~petlin/liplib/)and non-traditional career opportunities.

  • Yahoo! staff on searching, indexing and abstracting web sites. Can the Internet be cataloged?

  • "E-Resources: Exasperating! Electronic# Essential?" RML grant-supported full-day symposium featuring librarians, developers, and administrators. You will learn the results of the RML's focus groups, view these "E-Resources" from different perspectives, and participate in sharing groups to set the course of medical electronic resources for the next century.

  • A record breaking number of posters and papers on your colleagues' experiences, projects, and successes in the new information age.

  • Affordable dynamic CE courses on herbal medicine, Powerpoint, and nursing literature. Knowledge you need in a changing environment.

  • An IMAX theater party at "The Tech," followed by a party featuring scrumptious desserts.

The terrific program isn't the only reason to attend this meeting! San Jose, in the heart of Silicon Valley, has a lot to see and do either just steps from the Fairmont or a light rail ride away. For ideas, start by reading the flyer titled "Welcome to San Jose," written by the Hospitality Committee. You'll want to come to San Jose on Thursday or stay over on Sunday just for these experiences. By exploring these San Jose websites, www.sanjose.org/ and sjliving.com/ you will not only "know the way to San Jose," but what to do when you get there!

Please keep an eye on NCNWEB (http://www-ncnmlg.stanford.edu:5000/jtmtg/) for the most current information on the 1999 Joint Meeting. We look forward to seeing you!
